Help & FAQ
How to research, draft, and review with Leksa — plus honest answers about coverage, languages, and confidentiality.
Getting started
What can Leksa do?
Three things. Ask — legal research questions answered from indexed Tanzanian law, with citations you can click and verify. Draft — court and commercial documents generated from your facts, exportable to Word and PDF. Review — upload a batch of documents and get a comparable, flagged analysis grid.
How do I get good research answers?
Ask the way you'd brief a junior: name the area of law and the specific issue. “What constitutes unfair termination under the Employment and Labour Relations Act?” beats “tell me about employment law”.
Then keep going in the same conversation — Leksa remembers the thread, so you can push deeper: “What remedies apply where the employer skipped the disciplinary procedure?” Your conversations are saved automatically and listed on the Ask page, so you can resume any of them days or weeks later.
How does drafting work?
Pick a document type, enter the core details (or upload case materials — Leksa extracts the facts), confirm the fields, and Leksa generates a first draft with legal references. Then revise it in plain language: type what you want changed — “add a claim for general damages”, “make the tone more formal” — and get an updated draft. Repeat until it's right, then download as Word or PDF.
Confidentiality
Do I have to enter real client names?
No. For sensitive matters, tick “Confidential matter — draft with placeholders” on the drafting form and leave the sensitive fields blank — Leksa inserts placeholders like [CLAIMANT NAME] instead. You can also type your own placeholders (“Party A”, [Landlord]) directly into any field; they are preserved exactly. Either way you get a structurally complete draft and fill in the real details in Word after downloading — keeping you on the right side of your confidentiality obligations under the Advocates Act and TLS rules.
Who can see my questions and drafts?
Only you (and Leksa's authorised administrators for support and quality purposes, under confidentiality obligations). We don't sell data and we don't use your confidential content to train public AI models. Details in the Privacy Policy.
Coverage & accuracy
What sources does Leksa use?
An indexed corpus of primary Tanzanian sources — Acts, subsidiary legislation, and court judgments, including material from TANZLII. Every substantive answer cites its sources, and the Ask page shows when the corpus was last updated.
Does Leksa cover Zanzibar law?
Leksa's coverage currently focuses on mainland Tanzania. Zanzibar has its own legal system, courts, and legislation that often differ substantially — particularly in land law, personal status, and commercial regulation. Where your question turns on Zanzibar law, treat Leksa's answer as a mainland-law answer and verify separately. Expanding Zanzibar coverage is on the roadmap.
Can I use Leksa in Swahili?
Yes. Ask in Swahili and Leksa answers fully in Swahili; ask in English and it answers in English. Mixed “Kiswanglish” questions work too. Drafted documents follow the language conventions of the document type.
Can Leksa be wrong?
Yes — like any AI system, and especially on very recent amendments. That's why every answer carries citations and a verification reminder, and why the corpus is refreshed on a schedule. Verify against the current version of the law before relying on any answer in a live matter.
Account & billing
What do credits mean and how do plans work?
Free accounts start with 10 credits; each substantial action (a research turn, a document generation) uses one. Paid plans include a monthly allowance — see Pricing. Your remaining credits are shown on your home page.
